Recitals

Recitals featuring solo bandoneon as well as bandoneon in partnership with other instruments, including piano and guitar.

In these recitals we explore the whole range of tango music as well as classical works, music from other world traditions and contemporary compositions.

The bandoneon is well known for its role in the Orquesta Típica Tango, the traditional Argentinian orchestra of the golden age of tango, as well as its use by composer Astor Piazzolla in his quintet and larger ensembles.

In these recitals we explore the intimate sound of the bandoneon in all its variety and colour. The solo repertoire for the bandoneon has been a medium through which bandoneonists have experimented with the sonic and emotional possibilities of the instrument, away from the exuberance of the dance salon. In the duo repertoire, we explore the use of the instrument as an equal partner in chamber music.
